We practice clear and concise communication with law enforcement, other EMS personnel, and the hospital. Providing updates on the patient's condition, estimated time of arrival if transporting, and any other relevant information. This communication is crucial for preparing the hospital for the patient's arrival and ensuring a smooth handover.
Upon arrival, our EMS quickly assesses the scene for any immediate dangers to themselves and others. Then, they approach the patient(s) to assess their condition, performing any necessary medical procedures ranging from first aid to more complex treatments based on the situation. This could involve the use of CPR, treating wounds, or stabilizing the patient for transport.
When a distress call comes in, we ensure we are ready to respond as quickly as possible. We equip the EMS vehicles with the necessary medical supplies and head to the location. Both sirens and lights are used to navigate through traffic safely and reach the destination without unnecessary delay.
